‘Big Supplier’ of Fake IDs Arrested

State agents raided the home of an Albuquerque man who they believe was a big supplier of fake identification to minors and illegal immigrants.

When agents searched the North Valley home of Cristian Navarrete Gonzalez, 25, Wednesday night, they found more than 50 fake driver’s licenses and equipment to make “a lot more” identification cards, Social Security cards and resident alien cards.

“Some of the cards we found were pretty good quality, fake id ” said Herman Silva, director of the New Mexico Special Investigations Division. “This is very serious, especially (as) a homeland security issue. People use fake IDs for a variety of things.”

Navarrete Gonzalez was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on 52 counts of unlawfully forging driver’s licenses, aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and possession of a stolen firearm. best fake id

State agents say some of Navarrete Gonzalez’s clients were illegal immigrants.

“This is a significant amount of fake IDs, and we are still developing more information on how big this is,” said Department of Public Safety spokesman Peter Olson. “He is obviously a big supplier for fake IDs.”

When agents searched Navarrete Gonzalez’s home in the 5400 block of Edith NE, he was holding a gun and had to be forced to drop it, scannable fake ids according to a Metropolitan Court criminal complaint. State agents found that the gun had been stolen.
